CSRS-FERS Benefits Calculator & Retirement Analyzer

Walked through with you, free
Fed Retire Software

See your whole federal retirement in one clear picture

We work with Fed Retire Software, the maker of the CSRS-FERS Benefits Calculator & Retirement Analyzer. A Federal Retirement Consultant (FRCĀ®) runs your numbers through it, then walks the report with you in one virtual meeting. The review is free.

The report

Understanding your benefits is only the beginning. Knowing how to use them is what makes the difference. The analyzer lays out your total retirement picture, and your FRC helps you read it.

What the report shows you

The short answer

The CSRS-FERS Benefits Calculator & Retirement Analyzer is retirement planning software from Fed Retire Software, an independent company. It turns your federal service, pay, and benefit elections into a clear snapshot of your total retirement picture: what your benefits are worth now, what they may provide later, and what they may cost along the way. An FRC uses it in your free review and walks the results with you.

One report, three views of the same retirement.

Federal benefits are spread across several systems, each with its own statement and its own rules. The report puts them side by side, so you can see how the pieces add up instead of reading them one form at a time.

  • Current values. Where your benefits stand today, based on the service and pay you have on record.
  • Future estimates. What your annuity and your TSP may provide at the retirement date you are weighing, shown as estimates, not promises.
  • Potential costs. What your coverage and your choices may cost you in retirement, from FEHB premiums to FEGLI, so nothing arrives as a surprise.

The report gathers your benefits in one place, so the conversation can start from your own numbers.

It speaks the language of federal benefits

An FRC speaks the language of federal retirement, and so does the report. TSP, FEHB, FEGLI, and your FERS or CSRS annuity each show up on their own terms, in plain numbers you can follow. If any of these are new to you, our Federal Retirement 101 guide explains each one.

  • Your FERS or CSRS annuity. The pension your service has earned, and how the date you choose moves it.
  • Your TSP. Your Thrift Savings Plan balance, and how it could turn into income once the paychecks stop.
  • FEHB. Your health coverage, and what it may cost you to carry it into retirement.
  • FEGLI. Your federal life insurance, and how its coverage and cost change as you age.

Your FRC walks the report with you

A report full of numbers is only useful if someone helps you read it.

That is where your FRC comes in. In one virtual meeting, your consultant goes through the report with you, explains what each figure means for your situation, and points out the choices that are still open. You get a partner who understands your benefits, your career path, and the retirement you have in mind.

Nothing is filed at the meeting, and what you do next is up to you. To see the whole review step by step, read how a federal benefits review works.

Your career has been about service. Now your benefits should serve you.

Why we use the analyzer

Who Fed Retire Software is

Fed Retire Software is an independent company that makes the CSRS-FERS Benefits Calculator & Retirement Analyzer. It is a third-party product, not ours. We work with Fed Retire Software because its reports are thorough and easy to read, which makes them a good starting point for a conversation about your plan.

FRC does not sell the software, and you do not need to buy anything to have your report walked through. The figures in it are estimates built from the information you share, so your FRC will tell you which numbers to confirm with OPM or your agency before you file anything.

What you do with it

Three things the report helps you and your FRC do

Identify and fill benefit gaps

See where your coverage or income falls short of the retirement you have in mind, while there is still time to close the gap.

Optimize your retirement income

Compare dates and choices side by side, and see how each one changes the income you can expect.

Make confident, data-driven decisions

Decide with your own numbers in front of you, not a rule of thumb, and know which choices are permanent before you file.

Questions

Questions about the Fed Retire Software report

01 What does the report cover?
The CSRS-FERS Benefits Calculator & Retirement Analyzer pulls your federal benefits into one picture: current values, future estimates, and potential costs across your FERS or CSRS annuity, the TSP, FEHB, and FEGLI. Your FRC walks through each section with you and explains what it means for your situation.
02 What does it cost?
Nothing. The review is free, and running your numbers through the analyzer is part of it. An FRC is compensated only if you later choose to move forward on a product through them, which is explained on our how we get paid page.
03 Who is Fed Retire Software?
Fed Retire Software is an independent company that makes the CSRS-FERS Benefits Calculator & Retirement Analyzer. It is a third-party product. We work with Fed Retire Software because its reports are clear and thorough, but FRC does not sell the software.
04 Is my information shared?
You decide what to share. Your FRC uses the details you provide to build your report for your review, and our privacy policy explains how information you give us is handled. If you would rather not share a detail, say so. An FRC can work around gaps and use estimates instead.
05 Can I get the report without a meeting?
The report is designed to be read with your FRC, so it comes as part of your free review. Many of the figures only make sense alongside the rules behind them, and the meeting is where those get explained. If you want the software for your own use, that is a question for Fed Retire Software, since FRC does not sell it.
06 Does it work for both CSRS and FERS?
Yes. As its name says, the CSRS-FERS Benefits Calculator & Retirement Analyzer is built for both federal retirement systems. Your FRC confirms which system your service falls under before running your numbers, since the rules and the math differ.
