A verifiable consultant on your side of the table
Old-fashioned, on purposeFederal employees earn some of the best retirement benefits in the country, and get some of the least plain-language help understanding them. So we built the Federal Retirement Consultant designation, and a review, that put a verifiable, federally focused consultant on your side of the table. The premise is old-fashioned: your benefits are valuable, several choices are permanent, and the only honest question is whether your plan fits your goals.
A federal retirement is a big decision buried under fine print. Choosing when and how to retire is one of the most consequential decisions a person makes, and the guidance is written for administrators, not for you.
The official sources are accurate and written for the person processing your file, not the person living with the choice.
The person advising you is often impossible to look up, or has never studied federal benefits at all.
Survivor, FEGLI, and date decisions are hard to undo once they are filed.
We think it should feel like getting advice from a sharp, honest friend who happens to know this stuff cold. Clear, on your side, and yours to act on.
Financial professionals who earn the Federal Retirement Consultant designation complete training on federal benefits, agree to a code of conduct, are background-checked, and can be confirmed by name. The letters point to a real record, listed with FINRA's Professional Designations database, not a badge anyone can paste on a website.
The premise is simple. Before you make a federal retirement choice you cannot undo, a credentialed, checkable consultant sits on your side of the table and walks the rules and the numbers with you, in plain terms.
A Find an FRC verification tool so you can confirm exactly who you are talking to, by name, before you ever share a phone number or a dollar figure.
| An FRC review is | It is not | |
|---|---|---|
| A plain reading of what your federal benefits actually do for you. | Confirmed | A benefits packet written for administrators, not for you. |
| Your pension, TSP, survivor, FEGLI, and FEHB options walked through in plain terms. | Confirmed | Trade-offs buried three clicks deep in official guidance. |
| An honest answer, including "you are already on the right track." | Confirmed | A permanent election made under a deadline, without a second read. |
| A named consultant you can verify before you talk numbers. | Confirmed | Advice from someone you cannot look up. |
A Federal Retirement Consultant is an independent, licensed financial professional. The benefits review is free, and an FRC is compensated only if you later choose to work with them on a product. We are transparent about exactly how on our how an FRC is paid page and in our editorial policy, because a standard you cannot see is not a standard.
